Few positions in college football history have endured the immense attention and scrutiny that the Alabama place-kicking role has experienced.

The fraternity of kickers at Alabama understands the pressure and expectations of taking on the role, and a new-but-old face will be joining those ranks this fall.
With the program’s season-opener less than a week away, the Crimson Tide have reached a decision on the position battle at kicker. After the much more publicized choice of Keelon Russell at quarterback was made last week, Kalen DeBoer & Co. are set to roll with returning starter Conor Talty as their kicker.

Talty won a tightly contested battle over Marshall transfer Lorcan Quinn to secure the role.
Now in his fourth year within the program, Talty is looking to build off a 2025 campaign that saw him finish 16/23 on field goal attempts during his first year as the starter.
Talty went 48-for-48 on extra point tries, but while he didn’t struggle from any distance in particular, he did miss a handful of field goals from every range. A trio of misfires from under 40 yards are what drew the ire of Bama fans last fall.
Now set to serve as the backup, Quinn hit 21-of-26 field goals for the Thundering Herd in 2025.
