Alabama shares Wednesday evening update on status of Georgia game amid weather concerns
The looming threat of Tropical Storm Isaias is set to impact the entirety of the southeastern United States throughout the weekend, and that means the upcoming slate of SEC games will be featuring some inclement weather.
With Alabama directly in the storm’s path, Saturday’s matchup between the Crimson Tide and visiting Georgia Bulldogs has been at risk of being altered in some form due to the elements.
The Alabama Athletic Department provided an official update Wednesday night to provide the public with its current stance on the game and how it will be monitoring the storm moving forward:
Alabama Athletics continues to closely monitor the weather forecast ahead of Saturday’s football game, with the safety and well-being of the student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans as our highest priority. We remain in close communication with the National Weather Service, the Southeastern Conference Office and the University of Georgia as we observe conditions.
At this time, kickoff remains scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday. We continue to encourage fans to rely on official Alabama Athletics and SEC channels for the latest information regarding Saturday’s game.
ESPN’s College GameDay is also still scheduled to be in town for the contest, with Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit set to broadcast the matchup on ABC.
