The Alabama Crimson Tide dropped their second straight game this past weekend, losing 26-10 on the road in Rocky Top to one of their most hated rivals, the Tennessee Volunteers.
Now sitting at 2 losses on the campaign, head coach Kalen DeBoer and the rest of the Tide have very little margin for error over their final 5 games of the regular season if they want to get back to the College Football Playoff.
Sophomore tight end Marshall Pritchett was on the Alabama squad that made the CFP last year, and he told 247Sports’ Olivia Sayer on Tuesday what the Tide’s mindset will be as they try to make it 2 appearances in a row.
“Playoffs start now,” Pritchett told Sayer. “For us, round one is Texas A&M. There’s no more room for error.”

With 2 losses already on the board, this is exactly the kind of mindset the Tide will have to adopt if they want any shot at a CFP berth. No program has made the playoffs with 3 regular-season losses, and the Tide still have several SEC tests on their schedule that could end up being that third strike if they aren’t on their A-game the rest of the way.
Texas A&M is round 1 for Prichett and the Tide this Saturday, then they have a bye before making the trip down to Baton Rouge for what could be a season-defining showdown against Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers.
