The Alabama Crimson Tide became the first team in the brief history of the 12-team College Football Playoff era to win a first-round game on the road last Friday night, as the No. 9-seeded Tide went into Norman to knock off No. 8-seeded Oklahoma 34-24.
Entitled “Built for the moment”, Alabama released a video on X on Monday night depicts the inner moments surrounding the Tide’s visit to play the Sooners. Among the notable clips came from Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson exhorting the Tide offense before they hit the field at Memorial Stadium.
“I ain’t gotta say much, men. This is a respect thing. They said we couldn’t get in. They said we wouldn’t get in. But we’re here now. We’re here now, and we gotta make everybody pay,” Simpson said. “Always stay together and get the win. Play for each other and do your job, that’s all I ask you to do. Let’s go dominate.”
Alabama rallied from an early 17-point deficit to storm past the Sooners and win their record ninth CFP game in their record ninth CFP appearance. The Crimson Tide is 9-5 in CFP games all time, including championships in the 2015, 2017 and 2020 seasons.
Alabama (11-3) plays No. 1-seeded Indiana (13-0) in the CFP quarterfinals on New Year’s Day in the Rose Bowl (4 pm ET, ESPN).
