The cavalcade of SEC talent continued to fly off the 2026 NFL Draft board Friday night, as former Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the No. 47 overall pick.
Bernard joins Ole Miss WR De’Zhaun Stribling (No. 33 to 49ers), Texas A&M OL Chase Bisontis (No. 34 to Cardinals) Tennessee DB Colton Hood (No. 37 to Giants), Oklahoma edge R Mason Thomas (No. 40 to Chiefs), Georgia DT Christen Miller (No. 42 to Saints), Missouri edge Zion Young (No. 45 to Ravens) and Missouri linebacker Josiah Trotter (No. 46 to Buccaneers) as the conference players to hear their names called so far on Day 2.
The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Bernard blossomed in 2025 as a viable No. 2 option alongside struggling Alabama superstar Ryan Williams – actually leading the Crimson Tide in receptions for the past two seasons while lining up both in the slot and out wide.

Bernard, who spent 2022 at Michigan State and 2023 at Washington before following coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama in 2024, reeled in 63 catches for 862 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025. Bernard completes his collegiate career with 155 receptions for 2,203 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Bernard is the third Alabama player to be taken in the 2026 NFL Draft, joining offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor (No. 12 to Dolphins) and quarterback Ty Simpson (No. 13 overall to 49ers). The Steelers expect Bernard to immediately contribute alongside DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. after finishing with the second-fewest receptions (136) among WR groups last season.
