Alabama’s defense receives Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors

Alabama’s defense enjoyed another stellar performance during its 10-0 win over LSU in Week 10.
The Tide held the Tigers to 125 yards of total offense, including 92 passing and 33 rushing. LSU was limited to just six first downs and converted on 4 of 15 third down attempts.
Alabama recorded five sacks between five different players and nine tackles for loss between eight players. Minkah Fitzpatrick added the Tide’s only interception on a second quarter pass by Danny Etling.
Alabama also held star running back Leonard Fournette to just 35 yards on 17 carries, which limits Fournette to 145 yards on 57 attempts in three career against the Tide.
For its cohesive dominance, Alabama’s defense was named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week, becoming the first team to achieve the honor since Virginia Tech’s defense in 2005, according to ESPN‘s Brett McMurphy.

Alabama currently ranks as the No. 1 rushing defense (66 yards allowed per game), as well as No. 2 scoring defense (13.2 points allowed per game) and total defense (257.9 total yards allowed per game). It doesn’t look like the Tide will slow down any time soon after playing stellar football throughout the 2016 season.
