Former Alabama defensive lineman LT Overton is the latest Crimson Tide player to find a National Football League home, as he was selected by the Dallas Cowboys late in the fourth round Saturday at the 2026 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-3, 274-pound Overton transferred to Alabama after spending his first two seasons at Texas A&M. He notched 17 solo tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in 2024 and then went for 25 solo tackles and four sacks in his senior season.

Overton joins offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor (No. 12 to Dolphins), quarterback Ty Simpson (No. 13 to Rams) and wide receiver Germie Bernard (No. 47 to Steelers) as Alabama players to be taken so far in 2026.

Overton had only seven sacks over four seasons, but he is a more disruptive pass rusher than the stats indicate. Overton is quick for his size, uses active hands to keep blockers from latching on to him and is also able to hold his ground when teams try to kick him out with a pulling lineman.

The Cowboys went defense in the first round as well, taking Ohio State safety Caleb Downs with the No. 11 overall pick and UCF defensive end Malachi Lawrence with the No. 23 selection. The Cowboys didnโ€™t have a second-round pick, but went with Michigan linebacker Jaishawn Barham in the third round and both Penn State offensive tackle Drew Shelton and Florida defensive back Devin Moore earlier in the fourth round.
