TUSCALOOSA, Ala. _ University of Alabama defensive linemen Jarran Reed and Brandon Ivory returned to practice Thursday after being suspended for the first week of training camp.

Per coach Nick Saban’s policy, both players will likely go through an acclimation period of two practices in helmets and shorts and two in shells before putting on full pads. Alabama will hold its second two-a-day on Friday, and its first scrimmage on Saturday.

With sophomore A’Shawn Robinson also sidelined since Tuesday – and Saban expected to update his status when he meets with reporters later today — Alabama has been without the three players who made up the first unit of the defensive line during the spring.

Meanwhile, there was still no sign of sophomore linebacker/pass rusher Tim Williams, who was also suspended for violating team rules.

Saban hasn’t disclosed any of their transgressions, although Reed was arrested for driving while under the influence this summer.

Ivory has played in 29 games, with 13 starts, and was credited with 24 tackles, 1.5 for a loss, a hurry, and a pass broken up last season. Reed is a junior-college transfer in his first season with the Crimson Tide.
