Alex Golesh will be formally introduced as the new Auburn head coach Sunday afternoon, shortly after he signs a lucrative new contract with the Tigers.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger, Golesh will agree to a 6-year contract to coach Auburn worth an average of $7.4 million per season.
Golesh, who was earning $2.5 million annually to coach USF, led the Bulls to a 9-3 record in 2025 that included an 18-16 upset victory over then-No. 13 Florida in Gainesville on Sept. 13. The Bulls were ranked in the Top 25 in various points in the 2025 season, though a 41-48 loss at Navy on Nov. 15 bumped them out of the rankings altogether.
Golesh led South Florida to a 23-15 mark in his 3 seasons in Tampa, also turning in 7-6 marks in both 2023 and 2024. The Bulls also won the Boca Raton Bowl in 2023 and the Hawaii Bowl in 2024.
Golesh takes over an Auburn program that has been mediocre for some time and without a winning record since a 6-5 mark in 2020. The Tigers have cycled through 3 head coaches in that span, as Gus Malzahn left Auburn after the 2020 season, Bryan Harsin didn’t even make it through 2 seasons before being fired in 2022 and Hugh Freeze was fired during the 2025 campaign.
The Tigers finished 2025 5-7, including a 27-20 home loss in the Iron Bowl in Week 13 against Alabama.
