Alex Golesh and the Auburn Tigers were looking to bounce back from a blowout loss to LSU when they took on Ole Miss, but the complete opposite happened in a backbreaking 45-15 loss.

The game was competitive for 2 and a half quarters, as the Tigers had a chance to tie the game at 17 on a 2-point conversion with just over 6 minutes remaining in the 3rd. Their 2-point attempt failed and Ole Miss ran away with it.

During his press conference on Monday, Golesh said despite the result, the team gave good effort.

“I thought you would turn on the film and there would be lack of effort everywhere … there’s not. We didn’t (give up. That’s the part I’m hanging my hat on.”

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Golesh and Auburn were sky-high after the stunning upset at previously undefeated and No. 1-ranked Georgia. However, the Tigers followed that up with a blowout home loss to LSU, and then the game against the Rebels.

The combined losses were by 51 points, which is the worst consecutive losses for Auburn in 50 years. There have been good moments for Golesh in his first year, but there have also been moments that show there is still a long way to go for the Tigers.

While Golesh said he saw good things on film, the end result was the Rebels ended the game on a 28-0 run in the last 21 minutes 18:25 of the game.

Auburn looks to stop the bleeding this weekend against Arkansas.
