Anthony Richardson shares Playoff expectations for Florida, DJ Lagway in 2025
Anthony Richardson had his moments as the quarterback at Florida, but he never had any College Football Playoff moments.
Richardson was like a shooting star in Gainesville in 2022, putting up some glossy numbers but only leading the Gators to a 6-6 record. Then, suddenly, he was gone to the NFL when the Indianapolis Colts made Richardson the 4th overall pick of the 2023 draft. Those 2,549 yards passing and 17 touchdown passes along with those 654 yards rushing and 9 rushing TDs were nice, but there no real huge moments to go with that 2022 season.
Florida fans once accustomed to national title glory are experiencing a drought — well, in football at least. The once-mighty Gators are still looking for that first national title since 2008, which was a long time ago. And none other than Richardson, who was back in Gainesville this weekend doing multiple community events, believes Florida will finally be a factor again in that national championship chase.
In fact, Richardson believes that the current Florida quarterback, emerging sophomore DJ Lagway, will have the Gators in the Playoff in 2025.
“I’m actually looking forward to them running the playoffs this year,” said a confident Richardson to Swamp247 when asked what he thought about the 2025 Gators.
Richardson returned to Gainesville to give back to the community that once cheered wildly for him. He was never short on confidence back then when he donned the blue and orange, and years later he’s showing that same confidence in Billy Napier’s team this fall.
