Arch Manning spoke a lot on Tuesday about this fall and his first season in the pressure-cooker of college football.
He’ll be the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns for the first time, and the hype and scrutiny will be intense and unrelenting. All of that is in the near future for Manning, and some of it might turn out great but some of it might be arduous.
Those topics about meeting expectations and even being the Heisman Trophy favorite despite never being the starting quarterback until now were all on the table during Manning’s circus-like session with reporters at SEC Media Days in Atlanta. There were even questions that Manning had to deflect about that 2026 NFL Draft that he could be a part of.
But then there was a far more tender topic that Manning got to discuss. It was about his football family and specifically his grandfather Archie, who was a legendary quarterback at Ole Miss.
“My grandfather, we’re like best friends. He texts me every day, texts all the grand kids, and he came to a bunch of practices in high school. We keep up, and he’s just a great role model for me and reminds me to just be a good guy and be a good teammate, and that’s what I try to do,” said Arch Manning.
After talking about his beloved grandfather, Arch Manning provided the money shot of sorts on Tuesday, posing with Archie’s famous No. 18 Rebels jersey.

Sure, Arch Manning faces a ton of pressure right now going into this fall. But he’s got a full family support system, led by his legendary grandfather.
