Archie Manning presented Stetson Bennett with the Manning Award on Monday, as the Georgia quarterback received the only award that includes postseason performances.
Since Bennett won his second straight national championship, there has been talk about him getting into the College Football Hall of Fame. However, current rules would keep Bennett out because he’s not a first-team All-American.
Manning said that the idea “has been kicked around” by the National Football Foundation, but didn’t offer further details.
Archie Manning says on Zoom today that “it has been kicked around” addressing the @NFFNetwork requiring college hall of famers to be first-team All-Americans. As it stands, that means Stetson Bennett, among a handful of qbs ever to win consecutive natties, would not be eligible.

Along with the Manning Award, for example, Bennett won several other notable honors, including consecutive national championships and offensive MVP honors in all 4 Playoff games.
