Nothing is guaranteed in this hectic world of college football that we’re living in. The Arkansas Razorbacks found that out in tough-luck fashion in Week 4 against the Memphis Tigers. Then, on the recruiting trail Tuesday evening, they were kicked while they were down.

Jaivion Martin, a 3-star tight end decommitted from the Razorbacks on Tuesday. The Willis, Texas native committed to Arkansas back on May 2, but took visits to both Maryland (May 29) and Houston (June 5) afterward. He made a trip to Fayetteville, too (June 13), but still wound up spurning the Razorbacks.

Martin, at 6-foot-3, 250lbs., is the No. 464 player in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Those rankings also label him the No. 24 tight end and No. 61 player from Texas.

Only 2 tight ends ahead of Martin in his 247Sports positional list are uncommitted. Seven of the 23 in front of him have signed with Georgia, Texas A&M or Notre Dame. Maryland has commits from tight ends Javonte Williams (t-27) and Damon Hall Jr. (38), while Houston has no top 50 commits at the position. That fact, and the Cougars’ proximity to Martin’s hometown — 50 miles north — make it seem like they’re the program to watch for him going forward.
