Athlon Sports has 6 SEC teams in early 2018 top-25 rankings

It’s still early, but it’s about time for the 2018 preseason top-25 rankings to start pouring in, and on Monday, Athlon Sports got in on the action.
In their initial 2018 rankings, Athlon has six SEC teams cracking the top 25, with defending champion Alabama unsurprisingly locking down the top spot.
Below, you can see where the other five SEC squads stack up, with Texas A&M bringing up the rear at No. 25:
- No. 1 — Alabama
- No. 3 — Georgia
- No. 7 — Auburn
- No. 14 — Mississippi State
- No. 17 — Florida
- No. 25 — Texas A&M
Clemson checks in at No. 2, with Ohio State at No. 4 and Michigan at No. 5. That could change in the coming months, but for now it’s a good starting point.
Now, we see what happens this summer and if anything changes the voters’ minds.
