Auburn is gearing up for a new era with Alex Golesh as the coach, and he is bringing his high-octane style of offense from USF to the SEC. In order to do that, there has to be depth at the wide receiver position. On Monday, Golesh added to the receiver room as he got a commitment from Troy wide receiver Tray Taylor.
While he hasn’t been officially cleared to practice, Taylor is expected to be with the team very soon. He had a solid year at Troy, finishing with 30 receptions for 499 yards and 3 touchdownsย after transferring in from Coastal Carolina. Even though he played at a smaller school, he showed that he could compete with the Power-4 teams, as he had four catches, 69 yards and a touchdown in a game against Clemson last year.
He started his career at Tyler Junior College. He was a second-team All-American in 2023, finishing the season with 39 catches for 850 yards and nine touchdowns. The Tigers will look to get things started on the right track under Golesh on Sept. 5, when they host Baylor in an intriguing non-conference matchup.
