The Auburn Tigers took another loss in Week 8 against the Missouri Tigers, as the later marched into Jordan-Hare Stadium and handed Hugh Freeze‘s squad their fourth loss of the season.
Auburn also appears to have lost one of their most pivotal pieces up front on offense rest of the season in the loss as well, with Auburn On3’s Bryan Matthews reporting that junior center Connor Lew suffered a torn ACL during the game.
Lew stepped in as a true freshman midway through the 2023 season for Auburn, and has started every game at the position for the Tigers since that moment, becoming one of the most consistent players for the team over the past few seasons.
He has been named a team captain in every game that the team has played so far in 2025, and has been the anchor for the Tigers up front when it comes to protecting quarterback Jackson Arnold.
Now, Freeze and his staff will more than likely be turning to backup center Kail Ellis moving forward to fill in for the injured Lew for the remainder of the season.
The true freshman was rated as top-5 recruit at the position coming out of high school, and went in for Lew against Mizzou when the later was forced out with injury. Now, he’ll be tasked with anchoring the Tigers offensive line over the back half of their campaign.
