Baylor is going to be without a key contributor for its Week 1 showdown with Auburn and the rest of the 2025 campaign.
On Saturday evening, Bears coach Dave Aranda announced that junior running back Dawson Pendergrass is out for the season. Pendergrass recently injured his foot.
“He’s out for the year. It’s too bad,” Aranda told reporters. “That’s a definite misfortune. He’s going to have to get surgery on his foot.”

Pendergrass was second on the team in rushing last season. In 13 games, he logged 121 carries for 671 yards (5.55 yards per carry) and 6 touchdowns as a sophomore.
Baylor does return leading rusher Bryson Washington. Last year, Washington rushed 175 times for 1,028 yards (5.87 yards per carry) and 12 scores in his redshirt freshman season.
Auburn and Baylor are gearing up for their Week 1 showdown on Aug. 29, a Friday. The game is set for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff from Waco, airing on FOX.
