The Big 12 released its 2022 schedule on Wednesday, and it offered a glimpse into the conference’s thinking about the future of Oklahoma and Texas, and their moves to the SEC.
The conference notes that the schedule features a 10-team, 9-game, round robin format for the 12th consecutive season, culminating with the Big 12 Football Championship Game.
Television selections for the first 3 weeks of the season and any other special dates are due to the Conference by June 1, 2022. Institutions will announce the non-conference portion of their schedules.
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey has long discussed the 2025 season as the target for when Oklahoma and Texas would join the SEC. However, he also said he’s a pretty adaptable person, and fans and media have also wondered if contracts could change as realignment evolves.
