The Texas A&M Aggies couldn’t buy a basket to start Friday’s game against Providence in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Fortunately for the Aggies, neither could the Friars, leading to a low-scoring first half of play. At the intermission, Texas A&M leads Providence 28-27.
Before heading into the locker room, coach Billy Kennedy spoke with a CBS reporter, attributing the Aggies’ slow start to the intensity of playing in the NCAA tourney:
Billy Kennedy on why A&M struggled to open the game: “I think nerves and just the intensity of this type of game."

The Aggies missed out on March Madness last year, so a few of the players have never played on a stage this big.
However, the Aggies will need to come out strong in the second half, or they’ll risk an early exit from the tourney.
