After entering the fourth quarter, James Madison trailed 31-24 with just under 3 minutes remaining. However, the Dukes went on a 15-play, 71-yard drive that Camden Coleman capped off with a 6-yard touchdown with only three seconds left to send the game to overtime.
On the first play of overtime, the Dukes lost 11 yards, putting themselves in a tough spot. The play ultimately cost them, as kicker Morgan Suarez missed a 47-yard field goal, and the Mountaineers were able to make a field goal to get the win.
With the loss, hopes of making it back to the CFP have taken a significant hit, as the Dukes were looking at back-to-back appearances.
After being let go by Florida, Napier took over for Bob Chesney at James Madison and has continued the success that the program has had the last few seasons. The Dukes will look to get back on track when they host Troy next Thursday.
