Blake Shapen is headed to the SEC. The former Baylor quarterback, who started 23 games for the Bears over 3 seasons, has thrown for 5,574 career yards and 36 career touchdowns.

Shapen is headed to Mississippi State, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who added that Shapen will be immediately eligible and will have at least one season of eligibility remaining.

Shapen made the decision after offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes was fired, as he was the 2nd OC fired by coach Dave Aranda in 4 seasons.

Baylor (3-9, 2-7 Big 12) finished the season 11th in the conference in total offense (377.8 YPG) and tied with BYU for last in the Big 12 in scoring (23.1 PPG), lost its final five games of the season.

The 6-foot, 206-pound Shapen played in 8 games for Baylor in 2023, and completed 61.7%% of his passes for 2,188 yards with 13 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Shapen is a key addition for new Mississippi State coach Jeff Lebby, who came from his offensive coordinator post at Oklahoma.
