Brent Venables offers injury update on sophomore LB Dasan McCullough

Oklahoma linebacker Dasan McCullough played in the Sooners’ season opener against Arkansas State, but was forced to leave the contest with an ankle injury.
He has not seen the field since as the 2023 college football season heads into Week 4. He did dress out for the Week 2 game against SMU but did not take part in pregame warmups. He once again dressed out as the team prepared to take on Tulsa but did not see any action on the field.
Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables provided an update on McCullough’s status when he did his regular Coaches Show during the week, indicating that he would finally be returning to the lineup for the Sooners’ Big 12 opener against the Cincinnati Bearcats.

In McCullough’s absence, the team has rotated multiple players at the “Cheetah” linebacker spot where he lines up on defense. True freshman Peyton Bowen, who practiced as the starter there on Monday night, was among the players helping to fill the void.
Expect the Oklahoma defense to have a bit more pop to it with McCullough back in action as the Sooners face the Bearcats at Noon ET on the road Saturday.
