Brock Bowers was a generational performer during his time at Georgia. Now, he’s translating his skills into a historic rookie season with the Las Vegas Raiders as a budding superstar in the league.
Entering Sunday, Bowers already had 968 receiving yards on the season in his first 14 games played. Facing the Jacksonville Jaguars, it didn’t take long for Bowers to eclipse the 1,000-yard plateau for his rookie season.
His first catch of the game went for 32 yards, giving him the mark in the first quarter of action. That makes Bowers 1 of just 3 rookie TEs to ever reach 1,000 yards receiving (Mike Ditka, Kyle Pitts). While Pitts has produced an up-and-down career so far with the Atlanta Falcons, Ditka would go on to produce a Hall of Fame career.
If Bowers can keep this up, he certainly has a shot at shattering the record for most receiving yards for a rookie TE in NFL history. Ditka currently holds that mark with 1,076, so Bowers is well within range late in the season.
The rest of the season has not been kind to the Raiders, but Bowers is off to an electric start and has shown he’s a marquee building block for the franchise moving forward.
