Bruce Pearl understands that Auburn is facing a daunting schedule starting with Saturday’s game in Auburn against No. 3 Alabama.

“This is by far the most talented team we’ve played,” Pearl said, and added that he can’t find any weaknesses in Alabama’s game. “This is an extremely well-coached team … and obviously, they’re playing great right now.”

Even though the Tigers have lost 3 of the last 4 games, Pearl said he’s proud of his team.

“But the losses … those are 3 hard places to play, and we put ourselves in a position to win,” Pearl said. “I don’t know how many teams could have done that. … Even though the competition is getting better, we’ve also gotten better — just not enough to win.”

About Brandon Miller, Pearl said the Alabama star reminds him of what Jabari Smith did for Auburn last season.

Pearl also rejected a claim made by commentators during the Alabama-Florida broadcast on Wednesday, when he said he heard the commentators call Auburn a “desperate” team.

“I have a really good team that’s playing really hard every night. I don’t feel desperate,” he said.
