After a Final Four run that saw him become a national star, Auburn PG Jared Harper announced on Tuesday that he would forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the 2019 NBA Draft.
As a three-year starter for the Tigers, Harper has done a lot for the program, taking them from mediocre to elite. The Tigers have a share of the SEC regular-season title from last season, an SEC Tournament title this year and the school’s first-ever Final Four run under Harper’s leadership.
Shortly after Harper’s decision was made public, coach Bruce Pearl issued a statement thanking Harper and wishing him the best in the NBA:
More Pearl in Harper: “I have always been a believer in Jared. He is a special player with speed, quickness, power and a skill level that is unmatched by virtually any player his size. He will make it in the NBA.”

Harper could still decide to return to school even after hiring an agent, per new NCAA rules, so there’s still a chance he returns to Auburn.
However, if he does go, he’ll go as one of the all-time greats in Auburn history.
