Bryce Young, a former Alabama QB and 2021 Heisman Trophy winner, will likely miss the Carolina Panthersโ€™ Week 3 game due an ankle injury. Young missed practice on Thursday, asย Panthers.comโ€™s Dain Gannt confirmed, Young โ€œisnโ€™t expected to playโ€ against the Seattle Seahawks.

The No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Young spent time on the field at practice during the media portion but didnโ€™t participate in drills, Gantt wrote.

Carolina backup quarterback Andy Dalton, a former TCU standout, took the reps with the first team, Gantt reported. The Panthers also added Jake Luton on Wednesday for the practice squad, since Dalton remained the only healthy quarterback on the Panthersโ€™ depth chart.

Young sustained his ankle injury in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. He had an up-and-down start with 299 yards passing for 2 TDs versus 2 interceptions, and he completed 59.2% of his passes for a 66.6 overall QB rating.

The starter from Week 1, Young hasnโ€™t matched the prowess of his Alabama career yet where he had 8,536 yards passing for 80 TDs versus 12 picks in 36 games with the Crimson Tide. Young completed 65.8% of his passes and boasted a 165 QB rating as a 2-year starter in Tuscaloosa.
