Tennessee defensive tackle Shy Tuttleย enjoyed a huge performance in his first game back from injury last Saturday. Tuttle recorded two tackles, recovered a fumble and broke up two passes during the Vols’ 45-24 win against Virginia Tech.
Tuttle’s appearance Saturday was his first in 336 days, according to John Brice of GoVols247.ย Head coach Butch Jones said it was great to have the former Tuttleย back during an appearance with the Knoxville Quarterback Club, although heย is still upset at how Tuttle’sย injury took place.
The former four-star lineman broke his fibula on a block by Georgia lineman Brandon Kublanow last season, a play in which Jones called “unacceptable.”
โI donโt think the entire country realizes how the injury occurred, which was unacceptable,โ Jones said in reference to the play in which Georgiaโs Brandon Kublanow blocked down on Tuttle from behind. โAnd two, the severity of the injury. Thatโs an injury some individuals donโt come back from. It takes their career.
