Carson Beck may not need long in the NCAA transfer portal.

Moments after news broke that Beck is considering his 2025 college options after previously declaring for the NFL Draft, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported, per a source, that Miami has emerged as the favorite to land the departing Georgia quarterback.

If Beck opts to use his final season of college eligibility, it would not be surprising to see him take his talents to Coral Gables.

On the personal side, it would bring Beck closer to girlfriend Hanna Cavinder of the Miami women’s basketball team. The 5th-year guard is among college sports’ most prominent athletes when it comes to media presence, endorsements and NIL deals.

On the gridiron, it’s also an obvious fit. Miami is in need of a quarterback after the departure of Cam Ward. In the 2nd half of the Pop-Tarts Bowl, the Hurricanes turned to sophomore QB Emory Williams, who was 5-of-14 passing for 26 yards with 1 interception and no touchdowns.

Beck had a standout redshirt junior season, throwing for 3,941 yards while completing 72.4% of his passes with a 24-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio in 2023, prompting NFL Draft buzz as he entered his senior season.

Beck’s numbers went in the wrong direction in 2024, however, as he completed 65% of his passes for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Beck’s draft stock has also been impacted by the UCL injury suffered in the SEC Championship Game against Texas.

Beck can play college football in 2025 as a 6th-year “super senior.” He began his CFB career in 2020, a year that does not count due to COVID-19. Beck then took a redshirt in 2021, appearing in only 4 games.

Thamel noted that Beck to Miami is not a done deal, and the quarterback could look at other programs.
