When the calendar turns to November, the college football world discards the AP poll like the rotting pumpkin carving you have on your front porch. For all intents and purposes, it’s meaningless the rest of the season, now that the actual CFP poll is here.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s first CFP rankings show, CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford released his personal top 10 teams. Along with his list, he made two big declarations, saying the Big Ten’s “four-peat quest” was over and that “only two teams outside [the SEC] are capable of winning [the] CFP.”

Crawford had ACC powerhouse Miami at the top of his list despite recent close contests vs. Florida State and North Carolina. The Hurricanes’ next opponent, Notre Dame, slotted at No. 3. Half of Crawford’s sheet consisted of SEC teams, with Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, LSU and Alabama all earning placement in his top 10. Two Big 12 teams, Utah and BYU, made his rankings. The Big Ten’s lone team on Crawford’s board is UCLA.

Folks can argue with the order of Crawford’s top 10, but it’s hard to dismiss any particular school from his rankings at this moment. There’s sure to be movement in them next week, though, with three games between members of his list (Alabama-LSU, Georgia-Ole Miss, Miami-Notre Dame) in Week 10.
