CBS Sports analysts share picks for Ole Miss-Louisville ranked showdown in Nashville

While Saturday generally steals all of the headlines when it comes to a weekend of college football, the lone ranked matchup on the Week 1 slate will actually occur Sunday.
No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 24 Louisville will square off in Nashville as part of the ‘Music City Kickoff,’ and plenty of eyes will be on two teams with conference championship and College Football Playoff aspirations.

Ahead of the game, CBS Sports’ “Inside College Football” crew took a stab at predicting who will come out on top Sunday night, and the group went 4-for-4 in selecting Pete Golding‘s Rebels to emerge victorious.
Brian Jones first shed some light on Louisville’s star backfield tandem of Isaac Brown and Keyjuan Brown, but he has confidence in Ole Miss’ defense returning to its “2024 version” in picking the SEC‘s representative.
Aaron Taylor focused on how the Rebels are going to handle the hangover from last season’s CFP run, and despite going with Ole Miss, he doesn’t think it will have as strong of a year as 2025.
Former Notre Dame and LSU head coach Brian Kelly honed in on the duo of Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy being enough to push the Rebels over the Cardinals, while Rick Neuheisel opted to present the difference in QB experience (UL’s Lincoln Keinholz transferred from Ohio State after throwing for 250 yards in 2 years) as his reasoning.
