Former LSU head coach Brian Kelly has a new gig for the upcoming college football season. CBS Sports has formally announced the hiring of Kelly.
As was initially reported in June, Kelly is joining CBS Sports as an analyst. Monday’s announcement states that Kelly will serve as an analyst on select college football games, appear as a studio analyst on Inside College Football and contribute to CBS Sports HQ. Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Pederson is also joining CBS Sports as a college football analyst.

The 2026 season is Kelly’s first season out of coaching in over 4 decades. He began his coaching career at DII program Assumption University in 1983. He would eventually be the head coach at Grand Valley State, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and LSU.
At LSU, Kelly posted a 34-14 record. He was dismissed during the 2025 season after the Tigers fell to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in SEC play.
Kelly, 64, has expressed a desire to return to coaching college football.
