Week 7 of the 2026 college football season is officially in the books, and there was a ton of insane action from around the country that shook up the established pecking order in a big way.
The Tennessee Volunteers secured arguably the biggest win of the weekend when they knocked off the Alabama Crimson Tide at home in front of an absolutely electric Neyland Stadium crowd.
Defense led the way for the Vols against their hated rivals in the 26-10 victory, which led CBS Sports to select Vols’ defensive coordinator Jim Knowles as its SEC Coordinator of the Week.

Tennessee’s defense was absolutely dominant, holding Keelon Russell and the rest of the Crimson Tide offense to just 201 total yards and 10 points on the day while also racking up 5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions.
These numbers are impressive on their own, but they look even more absurd when you consider that Alabama entered the contest against the Vols averaging close to 480 total yards and just over 44 points per game.
Knowles called a masterful game against Kalen DeBoer, Ryan Grubb, and the rest of the Crimson Tide offense, and he more than deserves this SEC Coordinator of the Week honor.
