No. 6 Ole Miss picked up a second straight victory with a 30-14 victory vs. visiting South Carolina last weekend. A key factor was the tenacious defense, and CBS Sports is honoring Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding for that performance.

CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz named Golding as the top SEC coordinator for Week 10.

It was the lowest amount of points allowed in SEC play this season for Ole Miss. Ole Miss held South Carolina to 230 total yards and 3-for-13 on third down efficiency.

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers threw 2 interceptions to Suntarine Perkins and Wydett Wiliams Jr. Ole Miss also racked up 6 sacks, led by 1.5 from Perkins.

Ole Miss smothered South Carolina’s running game, holding the Gamecocks to 1.6 yards per rush on 32 attempts.

The 41-year-old Golding is in his third season as Ole Miss’ defensive coordinator. Golding is also Ole Miss’ inside linebackers coach. Prior to Ole Miss, Golding was most recently Alabama’s defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach from 2018-2022. Golding is a Louisiana native who played safety at Delta State from 2002-2005.

Next up for Golding and Ole Miss is a home game vs. The Citadel on Saturday (1 p.m. ET/SEC Network+).
