CFP chair Gary Barta spoke to ESPN after the latest College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday night.

One of the topics discusses was Alabama and why the Tide are ranked No. 3 ahead of No. 4 Cincinnati.

Barta told ESPN’s Rece Davis that the CFP committee views some of Alabama’s wins as better than the Bearcats’ total body of work:

The good news for Cincinnati fans? They’re in a Playoff position with only 1 game left. The bad news? That game is against a very tough Houston squad with an AAC title on the line.

Meanwhile, Alabama faces an even tougher task. The Tide head to Atlanta to take on No. 1 Georgia for the SEC championship.

There’s plenty of potential for rankings chaos this upcoming season!
