WATCH: Charles Barkley and Stephen Colbert wager on Auburn, UNC Sweet 16 game
The stakes just got a little bit bigger for Auburn’s matchup against North Carolina in the Sweet 16.
The Tigers have a chance to advance to the Elite Eight by upsetting the Tar Heels in the Midwest Region but are currently the underdog to do so heading into the matchup.
Looking ahead to the Friday night game, set to tip at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT on TBS, Charles Barkley and Stephen Colbert made a wager during the former NBA stars recent appearance on “The Late Show” on CBS.
Colbert bet Barkley that if UNC beats Auburn, the NBA and college basketball analyst has to wear the ugliest tie he’s ever seen on the air. If Auburn beats UNC, Colbert will wear the tie on the air. Barkley accepted the deal.
“I’m proud of my school, our coach Bruce Pearl and those guys and my kids — I call them my kids, they 18, 19, 20, 21, 22. I’m so proud of my college I cannot wait until Friday night,” Barkley said during the show.
He then offered up a pep talk to the Tigers heading into the game. Check it out below:
