Chris Del Conte, Texas’ athletic director, shot down any hope that alternate uniforms would make their way to Austin any time soon Monday evening.

More and more programs across the country, such as Tennessee, Kentucky and Mizzou to name a few, have moved to debuting alternate uniforms once or twice throughout the season. It plays to the “look good, feel good, play good” mantra. Many fans push to see alternate uniforms, while some favor a more traditional look.

Del Conte is in the latter camp. He used a funny analogy to get his point across, too:

Not sure about you, but we’ve seen quite a few purple sunsets in our time.

The Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners are set to join the SEC in 2024, the season after next. Schedule details are still being worked out, but the introduction of 2 new teams to the conference was moved up from 2025 as many expected it too.
