Chris Jones is easily one of the top defensive players in the NFL. The former Mississippi State star has won a Super Bowl, been named to 3 All-Pro teams, and played in 3 consecutive Pro Bowls since being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2nd round in 2016.
The defensive tackle appears destined for another All-Pro season in 2022 as through 7 games, he’s registered 5 sacks while forcing a pair of fumbles. He also fronts a Chiefs defense that has allowed 92 yards per game, 3rd-lowest in the league.
Jones’s skill on the Kansas City defensive line has put him in rare company among other defenders league-wide. He grades out at 80.2 in run defense and 92.3 in pass rushing according to Pro Football Focus.
Only 1 other defensive player in the NFL grades out at 80 or better in both categories: the Denver Broncos’ Bradley Chubb.
The Chiefs, currently on a bye week, are 5-2 on the season after a 44-23 win over the San Francisco 49ers. They next host the Tennessee Titans at Arrowhead Stadium on Nov. 6, a “Sunday Night Football” game on NBC.
