CJ Davis, son of Auburn legend Chris Davis, takes recruiting visit to Auburn

CJ Davis III could be following in his famous father’s footsteps at Auburn.
The 4-star running back, the son of Kick Six Tigers legend Chris Davis, took a recruiting trip to the Plains last weekend and “has the Tigers as one of three standouts,” according to a social media post on Tuesday morning by Christian Clemente, who covers Auburn football for 247Sports.
The younger Davis liked what he saw at Auburn, too, according to Clemente’s post.
“Great atmosphere and a great win,” said Davis, presumably referring to Auburn’s 43-8 victory over Southern Miss on Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium. “It looked like something that I can be a part of and get used to.”
Clemente reported that Davis is planning to get back on the Auburn campus “soon,” so Tigers fans could be bracing for a legacy situation with the Class of 2028 prospect who is playing his high school football down the road a bit in Hoover.
Right now, the younger Davis is playing his junior season at Spain Park High School in Hoover, and there is a real possibility that the son of an Auburn football legend could decide to stay in-state and play for the Tigers starting in 2028.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, the 5-foot-10, 210-pound Davis is rated No. 327 overall in the Class of 2028. He is also the 23rd-ranked running back in the class and the 11th-ranked player from the state of Alabama.
While Auburn tries to build for its future, the Tigers will also be trying to win as many games as possible in 2026 in the first season of a new coaching regime. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Auburn’s potential win total for this season:
