Clemson fans, media torch Dabo Swinney for poor showing against Penn State
Clemson’s disastrous 2025 campaign mercifully came to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 22-10 loss to Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl.
After beginning the season as the No. 4 team in the country, the Tigers will now end the year with a 7-6 record and a long offseason ahead. Head coach Dabo Swinney will no doubt have some tough choices to make regarding players and coaches in the program this offseason.
Offensively, Clemson has struggled with Cade Klubnik under center. His final game with the program on Saturday went poorly as he threw for just 193 yards on 39 pass attempts. Clemson was only able to manage 1 touchdown on the day.
Defensively, Clemson was a bit disappointing in this game as well. The Nittany Lions, playing with a backup quarterback, averaged 5.2 yards per play and went an impressive 11-of-19 on third down.
Offensive coordinator Garrett Riley and defensive coordinator Tom Allen both could face uncertain futures following a season in-which Clemson finished just 4-4 in ACC play. This is Riley’s third season as Clemson’s OC while Allen just finished his first year with the program.
After the loss to Penn State went final, fans and media called upon Swinney to make serious changes to the program this offseason:
