Entering the fourth quarter of Monday night’s national championship game, Clemson faced a task that 97 other teams have tried — and failed — to complete against a Nick Saban-coached Alabama team.
The Crimson Tide led 24-14 entering the final 15 minutes of play and had won the other 97 games in which they’d led by 10 entering the fourth quarter:
Alabama is 97-0 under Nick Saban when leading by double digits entering the 4th quarter.

That, of course, is when the Tigers’ offense exploded, scoring three touchdowns to Alabama’s one to pull off a shocking 35-31 upset victory.
Though the sting of the title-game loss won’t wear off for a while in Tuscaloosa, it’s safe to say Nick Saban’s crew won’t let a double-digit lead get away from it again any time soon.
