Clemson is in a world of hurt as the Tigers are trying to recover from a loss to NC State on Saturday. The Tigers are also 0-2 since coach Dabo Swinney said the Tigers need to “lighten up the bandwagon.”

Now, the Tigers have ended up in USA Today’s “Misery Index” a weekly update on fan bases across the country who are most frustrated, and usually irritated with their coaching staff.

As Wolken wrote: “As we now sit here in 2023, Clemson is an ugly 4-4 after losing 24-17 at North Carolina State. Swinney has resorted to lashing out at angry fans about jumping off the bandwagon and lecturing them about how hard it is to win. And he doesnโ€™t seem to have many answers for why his program has fallen apart so dramatically.”

Wolken wrote that the issue is simple: Clemson simply isn’t that talented, and Swinney is at a loss to explain.

“I donโ€™t understand why some of the things have happened the way theyโ€™ve happened,” Swinney told reporters on Saturday. “Itโ€™s been bizarre. Itโ€™s probably the best word I can say.”

What’s clear is it’s never great when the opposing coach, in this case, NC State’s Dave Doeren, makes a viral comment after the game.
