Cole Cubelic explains why LSU’s 3-loss season shouldn’t detract from Jayden Daniels’ Heisman case
Cole Cubelic believes LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels should be the leader for the Heisman Trophy entering Week 12.
Daniels’ Heisman case is picking up steam this week after his dominant performance vs. Florida in Week 11. He threw for 372 yards and rushed for 234 more while scoring 5 total touchdowns in that win over the Gators.
Cubelic spoke about Daniels’ candidacy on SEC Network on Monday. He said he doesn’t believe LSU’s 7-3 record should detract from Daniels’ chances to win the award.
“As far as I’m concerned, the wins and losses thing, people make too much of it,” Cubelic said. “It doesn’t matter how many games you win, how many games you lose. It’s the ‘most outstanding player’ and how do you want to define that? Most exciting? We just watched him run all over the Florida defense.
“I know if I had my choice of which guy I’d least like to defend, Jayden Daniels is going to be that guy for me. So all of that put together, Roman, I don’t know how you make a case for anybody else to win the Heisman right now.”
