Colin Cowherd argues it would be ‘bad business’ for Arch Manning to return to Texas in 2026

Colin Cowherd has long been a fan of Texas’ football coach Steve Sarkisian, and he has followed the program for quite some time. Like many fans across the country, he heard Arch Manning’s grandfather Archie on Thursday say that he expects Arch to be back at Texas in 2026.
That caught many pundits across the country off guard, as many people have projected Manning to hear his name called very early during the 2026 NFL Draft.
During his show on Thursday, Cowherd said that would not be a good business decision if Manning did in fact return to Texas after this year.
“Yeah, that’s what you have to say,” Cowherd said on his show. “If he beats Ohio State in Columbus, wins the Heisman Trophy or doesn’t and gets into the national championship game, it would be really bad business to stay in college. I know almost every Manning pretty well…. they are good at business, and they say the right thing when they need to.”
Right now if you’re Sarkisian and Manning, what happens after this season is way down the list of things to focus on. There are extremely high expectations on the Longhorns, and for good reason.
They have lost in the College Football Playoff semifinals in consecutive years, including losing to eventual national champion Ohio State last season.
The rematch with the Buckeyes is just over 3 weeks away, as the two teams square off in Columbus in Week 1.
