College football coaches are good for a rant or 2 each season, and Georgia State coach Shawn Elliott certainly crossed one off his list on Saturday.
Elliott, who has an SEC tie as a former South Carolina assistant, and brief interim coach after Steve Spurrier stepped down, was upset after his team lost to James Madison.
“It’s pretty obvious that we got our ass kicked today, by a pretty good football team,” Elliott said. “And they get all the credit. James Madison’s a good football team, coming in here undefeated, best defense in the league all that stuff right there. You would have thought we would have dog gone showed up to the party today, and dog gone fight this team. Man, we fought for a little bit, we didn’t fight for 4 quarters.”
Jordan McCloud accounted for 6 touchdowns and James Madison poured on 4 touchdowns in the second half for a 42-14 win over Georgia State.

I hope you watch the whole thing and what resonated with me is in a world where coaches have gotten good at not saying much sometimes, I’m glad to see the passion from Shawn. pic.twitter.com/kfJ5OsRXUs— Maria Martin (@Ria_Martin) November 5, 2023
