College football media personalities predict Lane Kiffin’s team for 2026
We’re (supposedly) nearing the end of Lane Kiffin‘s latest saga. Last week, Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter said Kiffin will announce his intentions for 2026 following the Rebels’ Egg Bowl matchup versus Mississippi State.
Less than 72 hours out, it doesn’t seem like anyone has a truly great pulse on where Kiffin will end up. However, the bulk of the college football world believes it will be Baton Rouge.
On Wednesday morning, On3 Sports’ Brett McMurphy released a poll of 85 college football personalities with one simple question: where will Lane Kiffin coach next season. Nearly three-quarters of respondents (59), including the likes of Paul Finebaum, Cole Cubelic and Peter Burns, chose LSU. Many non-SEC personalities — including Gus Johnson, Brady Quinn and Adam Zucker — also picked the Tigers.
Ole Miss (17) received the second-most votes in the poll. Florida (5), the Tennessee Titans (2), and Alabama (1) also received votes.
Scott Van Pelt, seemingly speaking for the country at large, did not submit a selection. Instead, he said he had “no clue” where Kiffin would be in 2026. Kiffin himself might not even be sure yet. Rebel fans would like to believe his full focus has been on the Egg Bowl, but it’s impossible for that to be the case. Ole Miss and Mississippi State kick off at 12:00 p.m. ET (ABC) on Friday.
