College football offensive lineman suspended after ejection for spitting on opponent

A college football offensive lineman has been suspended by his coach after the player was ejected on Saturday because he spit on an opponent.
South Alabama offensive lineman Dontae Lucas is suspended for Saturday’s game vs. Texas State, his coach Kane Wommack said Monday.
“There needs to be a different level of accountability for him and the example that sets for our football team,” Wommack said during in his regular Monday morning appearance on Mobile’s WNSP 105.5 FM, via AL.com. “So I’m going to suspend Dontae from this upcoming game against Texas State and then we will move forward from that.
Lucas was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after a Jaguars touchdown late in the third quarter after he was ejected after officials said he spit on a Georgia Southern player. The incident was not caught by ESPN+ cameras.
“Accountability is a huge piece of why we are in the position we are in and why we’ve seen the growth that we have. Those things are never fun to do and it will hurt our football team, but I think everybody in this program needs to be aware of that, that there are consequences to the decisions that you make.”
