College GameDay announces guest picker for Week 6 broadcast at Alabama
ESPN’s College GameDay will welcome comedian and podcaster Theo Von back to the set in Week 6.
On Thursday, ESPN announced that Von will be the celebrity guest picker on this weekend’s show, which will broadcast live from Tuscaloosa ahead of a top-20 showdown between No. 10 Alabama and No. 16 Vanderbilt. Von will make his second appearance on the show.
Von appeared on the show on Dec. 2, 2023, prior to the SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia in Atlanta. Von went 5-3 on his picks that day.
Alabama will be making its first appearance on GameDay since Sept. 28, 2024. The Tide hosted ahead of their matchup with Georgia. Terry “Miss Terry” Saban was the guest picker that day. The Tide will be making their 61st all-time appearance on the show — the second-most of any FBS program.
Vanderbilt is at the other end of the leaderboard. Saturday’s broadcast will be the Commodores’ second all-time appearance on the show.
And it’s fitting that Von be the celebrity guest picker for their return. Von has been around the Vandy program quite a bit to begin the 2025 season. He was on hand for the 31-7 beatdown of South Carolina earlier this year, a night during which he revealed he had a date lined up with Vandy quarterback Diego Pavia’s mother.
No word yet from ESPN about whether Von will have a date for Saturday’s show.
Kickoff between the Crimson Tide (3-1, 1-0 SEC) and the Commodores (5-0, 1-0 SEC) is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. GameDay will go live from live from Denny Chimes on the Alabama campus from 9 a.m. – noon ET.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
