Colston Loveland and Blake Corum helped Michigan extend its lead over Washington to 27-13 with just over 7 minutes remaining in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Loveland had a gorgeous leaping catch to open the Wolverines’ drive, ultimately going for a 41-yard completion to put his team at the Washington 30. Four plays later, with the Wolverines at the Huskies’ 12 facing a 2nd-and-7, Corum broke off a gutsy 12-yard-run into the end zone to stretch the Michigan advantage.
For Corum, it was the latest play in what has been a record-breaking 4 years at Michigan. It was his 17th TD of the season and 57th of his career, ranking 2nd in program history in the latter category.

Michigan led 17-3 early in the 2nd quarter but saw Washington continue to battle back and keep things close, eventually getting to within 20-13. But Loveland and Corum’s 4th-quarter plays gave the Wolverines much-needed breathing room in search of a first national championship since 1997.
