The way Ian Rapoport of NFL Media explains it, if the NFL is offering the players the opportunity to skip the preseason, that means there is no chance there will be a preseason schedule this NFL season.
The NFL and the league’s players association, called the NFLPA, continue to work toward guidelines for making the upcoming NFL season work.
On Monday, ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported the two sides have agreed to testing protocols involving daily tests for the players to start the season. If cases drop to below 5%, the players will then be tested every other day.
The continued progress is great news for football fans as college football is likely to take cues from the professional ranks. If the NFL can’t figure out how to play the season, there’s little to no chance college football manages to work out all the details but with each passing day, it appears the NFL gets closer to taking the field in 2020.
Here is the latest news regarding the upcoming NFL season from Rapoport.
From @GMFB: The NFL offered the NFLPA zero preseason games as part of negotiations, which means that's how many there will be. Goodbye preseason games, at least for 2020 ✌? pic.twitter.com/dbLGcQVlKi
